there's still nothing in my inbox from the OnLive people and i am getting frustrated because i know they've already begun their beta testing. i sooooo wanted to get in on it but doubt they'll send me the invite to join the testing. does anyone know if anyone else got in on this to do the beta testing?

i've heard nothing from them myself and i've checked back on the original sign-up site a couple of times. i've also asked other people i play with and nobody has heard anything. i really wanted to be able to check this out. i can't wait til it hits the market though.

I believe the pricing structure for game rentals will be a pivotal point for OnLive's success. If consumers have to shell out an additional 8 bucks or so to rent a game this service will cost a lot of hard earned cash.

Will consumers buy into cloud gaming or will they look elsewhere if an annual subscription can cost us up to 180 Dollars to simply play demos 'instantly'?

I personally have a problem with this unless a weekly rental is sub 3 Dollars or the monthly fee is decreased since 180 bucks only provide limited access to this gaming platform. Sure, the service will allow owners of mediocre spec computers to play games like Burnout Paradise and Crysis but the cost at accessing the service might be too high.

OnLive also announced that the first 25,000 people who pre-register here can get 3 free months of OnLive to get a taste. Hurry and sign up!

wow.... i was under the impression that whatever they charged for monthly service fee would include demos and also full games. i had no idea that the monthly fee would only include demos. that's quite a chunk of change for it not to include full games. if that is the structure of it, then i may just pass on it. like was posted, you can get unlimited rentals for that price for the console you own. they need to up the anty if they plan on OnLive being a success and taking a piece of the gaming market.

They didn't think this through, or need to go back to the drawing board.  If you have any console, a Gamefly account kicks OnLive's ass for the same price.
